About Us

Empowering the Next Generation of Innovators

We are dedicated to closing the gaps in education and representation for scholars in STEM fields.

Our organization is a launchpad where potential is unlocked, skills are honed, and futures are shaped. We are committed to transforming the educational landscape for underserved and underperforming children in their early learning years, ensuring they have the opportunities and resources to thrive in technical careers. Through our programs, we are paving the way for a more equitable and inclusive future, where every child has the chance to succeed.

The Together Friends Organization Mission

Our mission is to empower elementary & middle school scholars by building confidence in math and science through hands-on, engaging activities. We understand that math can often feel intimidating, which is why we’re dedicated to creating an environment where students can explore and enjoy math and STEAM/e without fear.

WHAT EXACTLY IS STEAM/e?
STEAM/e

The term STEAM/e was introduced six years ago from the original focus on science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM). This acronym share an emphasis on innovation, problem solving, and critical thinking. We added entrepreneurship to the mix because we recognize the imporance of not only teaching children the technical skills, but also equipping them with the soft skills essential for entrepreneurship.

High-Dosage Learning

Our focus is on providing real-world skills and engaging activities to help students apply math concepts practically. We aim to make learning math a hands-on, enjoyable experience that connects to everyday life and future careers.

Lifelong Empowerment

We believe in motivating and supporting students from a young age, starting in elementary school, with a commitment to their development through middle and high school. Our long-term support ensures students grow in confidence and ability as they progress.

Championing Diversity

Our goal is to increase the representation of girls and kids of color in technical fields by addressing educational disparities. Inspired by the Together Friends Organization's directors experiences as parents and grandparents, we are driven to create a more inclusive future in STEM.

UNDERSTANDING OUR WHY

WORKING TO TRANSFORM THE STATISTICS

In Georgia, our current third graders have faced significant challenges due to the impact of COVID-19 in 2020. During these crucial developmental years, they spent nearly two years primarily indoors and engaged with screens, which severely affected their access to education.

As a result, over 70% of our third graders are not proficient in math or reading at their grade level, with this issue being particularly pronounced in underserved and underperforming communities that lacked adequate resources. This is why we are committed to working tirelessly to improve the educational outcomes for these early learners. Our goal is to equip them with the necessary tools and resources to achieve success in their future lives. Research done by the Regional Educational Laboratory, indicates that students who are not reading proficiently by third grade are four times more likely to drop out of school.

The Together Friends Organization Mission

At Together Friends Organization (TFO), we are dedicated to ensuring that every student has access to vibrant and meaningful K-12 educational experiences. Our mission is to provide students with the tools they need to develop self-awareness, confidence, and lifelong skills. Through our initiatives, we offer students a stunning portfolio, a professional reputation, and diverse opportunities that pave the way for further education, training, and a successful career.

With a proven history of dismantling barriers, TFO addresses the growing need for accessible STEM programs and foundational learning for students in communities across America. We are committed to supporting those affected by generational lack of education, poverty, and the recent disruptions caused by COVID-19. Our work is driven by the belief that every student, regardless of their background, deserves the chance to excel and achieve their full potential.
