TFO offers afterschool programming for students in grades K-8, a summer STEAM/e program, and tutoring in core subjects. Our services are critical for students in marginalized communities, as they often have limited access to quality afterschool and STEAM/e enrichment opportunities.

The daily meals and afterschool snacks provided by TFO help combat food insecurity, improve concentration, and support healthy development.
70% of students who attend 80% of the afterschool sessions have improved test scores, higher homework completion rates, and increased interest in STEAM/e fields.

Advantages of STEAM/e in Our Elementary & Middle School Programs
High-Dosage Learning: Engaging, hands-on projects enhance understanding and retention of complex concepts, making learning enjoyable. Each TFO student receives over 150 hours of support in reading, writing, and math every year.
Early Skill Building: STEAM/e programs introduce essential science, technology, engineering, arts, math, and entrepreneurial skills, setting a strong foundation for future success.

Field trips & Guest Speakers: Students can see firsthand what a STEAM/e career looks like, and learn about job opportunities they might not have known about previously. Some of our past field trips include the Clayton County Police Headquarters, the Newman Wetlands, Georgia Water Systems, and the Honda plant, where students got to see the robots in action.

Embracing a "Fail Forward" Mindset
TFO works to instill a lifelong love of learning, and believes that the learning process is just as important as the end result. Students are encouraged to ask questions and rewarded for working through problems, even if they don’t always arrive at the correct answer. Through this “Fail Forward” mindset, members learn the importance of discipline and persistence. We want students to feel empowered, not discouraged, to try again.
Communication and Teamwork
We create an environment where students build relationships with their peers, learning to embrace each other's strengths and weaknesses. Activities are designed to boost self-esteem, empathy, and compassion. Our programs promote mindfulness, patience, and respect for both self and others.
Sparking Curiosity
Our programs are specifically designed to ignite curiosity in math, science, and reading. We introduce our members to general STEAM/e concepts through engaging hands-on activities, which encourage students to think creatively and approach challenges from new perspectives. We organize field trips and bring in guest speakers, allowing students to see exciting career possibilities.
